CONTAINERS FOR CHANGE

King River Hall is a ‘Contact Collection Point’ for recyclable bottles and cans. When you put your recyclables into our container the cash proceeds will go to the Hall. It’s good for the environment and it’s good for the Hall! Help us to keep Australia beautiful by earning cash while we recycle! It is a form of donation from you to the Hall.

Special Note: Please DO NOT CRUSH cans as the bar code needs to be visible. Please also remove lids and rinse before depositing. Thank you!

THE VERANDAH BOOKSWAP

On our lovely verandah we have set up a free Book Swap.

As we say ‘bring one take one, bring two take two…so very handy!’ And available 24/7!

Thank you to everyone who has donated books to swap. If you would like to donate please ensure books are in good condition. We have quite a few children’s books at the moment so please only leave children’s books if you are taking some.

GOODS TO SHARE

Thank you to the folks who have been leaving ‘goods to share’ on the verandah. Spontaneous sharing is great! We have had lemons, chillies, chili plants, bulbs, children’s jigsaws, etc. donated for sharing. If you have small items you would like to share please bring them along. Just attach a sign ‘for sharing’ so we know to help ourselves. Thanks in advance!

LIDS FOR KIDS

Lids for Kids Albany depot has closed. WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR LIDS?
Don’t worry Soroptomists to the rescue!  Keep depositing your lids in The Hall’s pink bin.

The Soroptimists will send the lids to Greenbatch, a WA organisation. The lids are shredded, turned into pellets and used to produce 3D printer filament, which is transformed into a range of products including prosthetics. The bread tags will be sent to ‘Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs’ and sold to a company called Transmutation that recycles the tags into other products. The sale of the tags raises funds to buy wheelchairs and mobility aids for disadvantaged people in South Africa.

As you can imagine we get a large number of lids and tags. To make sorting easier, please keep tags separate from lids and be sure to wash and remove the inner seal from lids. So for us nothing changes, keep bringing your plastic lids  and bread tags to The Hall. We will ensure they get to the right collection depot.
